users.
Development & Management of Public Libraries: Statutory framework of public library services, obligations of the state
and citizens, citizens charter, state funding, recession and budgetary cuts, public private participation, state policies,
strategic initiatives, public library business models, philanthropic initiatives, best practices, quality management,
performance indicators, public libraries and academic libraries, public library collaborations and consortia; and role of
library associations.
Technology and Public Libraries: Impact on collection, access and delivery of services, Open Access Initiative, Public
libraries as knowledge centres and IPR.

ILA Conference on Public Libraries of the Future:opportunities and challenges to be held at O. P.
Jindal Global University, Sonepat (NCR of Delhi), invites original contributions based on practice, theoretical & empirical research,
related to the theme. The paper submission can be done through email only. All papers will go through a process of review by a
panel of experts and accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Authors should use Times New Roman with
12 points font in the MS Word format in double space and should not exceed 5000 words. Correspondence will be made with the
principal author and therefore the name, full address, email, and work, home, mobile phone numbers of the principal author should
be clearly indicated.
Poster Presentation: Only accepted papers will be allowed to be presented. Papers may also be accepted for poster presentation.
Only abstracts of poster presentations will be included in the proceedings.Papers should be sent to the Conference Secretariat at
ILAConf@jgu.edu.in.

Conference Fee includes admission to all technical sessions, conference kit, food, and local transport. Accompanying person shall not
be entitled for conference kit. Delegates should also add applicable charges for accompanying person, pre-conference tutorial and
accommodation. Payment should be made by a demand draft drawn in favour of O.P. Jindal Global University at Sonepat, and sent
to the Organizing Secretary along with Registration Form. Alternatively fees can be remitted by electronic fund transfer to HDFC

Accommodation and Transport
Accommodation for delegates from outside NCR has been arranged on first-come-first-served basis, in the JGU Halls of Residence
which haveair-conditioned shared rooms and common bathrooms. Those who wish to stay in hotels should make the reservations
themselves. Hotel information is available on request from the Conference Secretariat.
JGU,Sonepat, the venue of the conference is about 40 kilometers from national capital Delhi, about 6 kilometers inside the National
Highway 1. JGU can be reached by private car or taxi from the airport, railway stations, and inter-state bus terminus (ISBT). Guests
using public transport should reach Jahagirpuri,the last Delhi Metro Station on Yellow Line. Arrangement will be made to receive the
guests at Jahangirpuri on July 21, 2011. Delegates can also avail pick up, and drop facility on conference days at Jahangirpuri Metro

Local Information
Sonepat or Sonipat, is an ancient town in the state of Haryana, has been in existence since 600 BC. The town was also mentioned by
the great grammarian Panini in his celebrated Ashtadhyayi. It is believed that it was founded as Suvarnaprastha by the five
Pandavabrothers during the times of Mahabharata, and was one of the five Prasthas or towns demanded by Yudhisthira from Duryodhana as the price of peace. Another tradition ascribes its foundation to Raja Soni, thirteenth in descent from Arjuna, a
brother of Yudhishthira. Month of July is Monsoon season in North India, with moderate temperature. Delegates are advised to
carry umbrella or waterproof apparels.
Excursions: Trips to nearby places like Delhi, Agra, Chandigarh, and Kurukshetra can be arranged by the Travel Desk on Sunday, 24
th
July, by bus or shared taxis. Interested delegates should register their request at the time of Registration. The Conference Secretariat
will not extend any other support for excursions.
The Organisers
O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) a non-profit global university established in memory of the Late Mr. O.P. Jindal by the Haryana
Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2009, is a philanthropic initiative of Mr. Naveen Jindal, the Founding Chancellor. The
vision of JGU is to promote global courses, global programmes, global curriculum, global research, global collaborations, and global
interaction through a global faculty. JGU is situated on a 60-acre state of the art residential campus. JGU is one of the few
universities in Asia that maintains a 1:15 faculty-student ratio and appoints faculty members from different parts of the world with

The Indian Library Association (ILA) is a premier association committed to the cause of Library Movement and Development in India
and represents those who work in or advocate for Indian libraries. ILA has provided a wide variety of services and programs to its
members and others in the library community, since its formation on September 13, 1933, when the Association was formally
formed at the First All India Library Conference at Calcutta. Today, ILA has become the strongest and largest professional body in the
field of library and information science.The main objectives of the association are:
Promote library movement in the country
Development of library and information science education in India
Training, research and development of library and information science professionals
Co-operation with national and international organizations with similar objectives.
Promotion as well as formulation of standards, norms, guidelines, etc. for management of Library and Information Systems and
Services
Accreditation of institutions imparting library and information science education and training;
